Writer and Director Jawad Mir believes storytelling has the power to bridge cultures, challenge perspectives, and inspire meaningful conversations. Over the past decade, he has built a career creating films that explore complex social, cultural, and human rights issues with empathy and cinematic depth.

His work includes the award-winning documentaries “Citizen of Moria,” “In Search of My Sister,” “Only 78,” and “Baristas,” which have been screened in more than 40 countries at international film festivals, universities, Hot Docs Cinema, the European Parliament, U.S. embassies, and Capitol Hill. His films have reached audiences around the world and are available on platforms including Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, Kanopy, and additional platforms.

Today, Jawad is focused on narrative filmmaking, developing powerful human dramas that explore the shared experiences that connect us. His upcoming feature films include “Whispers in Time” and “The Things We Carry,” while his slate of short narrative films includes “The Paper Cranes” and “Secret of Flamenco.”

Jawad is also the creator and host of the Kingdom of Dreams Podcast, where he has produced more than 300 in-depth conversations with the creative minds behind some of the world’s most celebrated films and television series. His guests have included Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Don Burgess (Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Contact), editor Richard Francis-Bruce (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Rock), and hundreds of directors, cinematographers, production designers, editors, composers, producers, and other behind-the-scenes artists whose work has shaped modern cinema.
